5 Nonillian and Counting
After identifying that one actually has Lyme disease,, the most important and most difficult subject to acquaint yourself with is your immune system. Your immune system is your single greatest weapon for combating the over five nonillion ( 5 x 10 30th power ) bacteria and viruses in the world. Over 300 strains of which are Lyme strains.
The immune system is a complex system of Lymph nodes; Bone Marrow; spleen and Skin that prevents the invasion of bad bacteria like Lyme from attacking the body. When the immune system is weakened, bad bacteria is free to multiply, the patient’s symptoms become exaggerated and a downward spiral begins until the bacteria can be fought off.
Antibiotics are often used to fight the bad bacteria when the body’s immune system can not. The issue with overuse of antibiotics is twofold:
- Bacteria that survives a course of antibiotic treatment will mutate and most likely become resistant to the antibiotic; and
- Overuse of antibiotics will weaken the patient’s immune system thus requiring the patient to go through a detox period to rebuild it. Seek your physcian’s advice for the proper balance of anibiotics and detox.
It is equally essential to be aware that some bacteria is good and required by the digestive system. Since antibiotics kill the good bacteria too, the good must be frequently replenished (e.g., acidophilus).
Due to the importance and complexity of this subject, I suggest you read:
