Va Doctor Banned From Prescribing Narcotics

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) ― A doctor known for treating people with Lyme disease is closing his family practice and reviewing his options after the Virginia Board of Medicine banned him from prescribing narcotics.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the board also put 73-year-old Dr. Geoffrey Gubb on indefinite probation.

The board accused Gubb of failing to monitor the conditions of 15 patients he was treating with painkillers. The board said Gubb also failed to properly document diagnoses.
